We look forward to seeing everyone at tryouts (Feb 19-23) and hope you feel ready and confident to be your best!
Coaches will be walking around with our score sheets. I shared with all of you, electronically and in hard copy, how we score each player. If you are still curious, please ask us this week. We will be happy to share with you again.
Our tryouts week goes as follows:
Monday, Feb 19
-10 am beep test - report to main gym by 9:30am; be on time! Not 9:32 - 9:30 (ready to run).
You will be assigned a tryout number for the week, and we will confirm paperwork.
-3:30pm check in at stadium field. Bring the pinnie you were assigned in the morning. DO NOT FORGET YOUR PINNIE! Show responsibility.
Plan to be at stadium until 6pm.
Tuesday, Feb 20
-7:45am loop run - report to main gym foyer by 7:30am; be on time, ready to run!
-4:10pm-6pm stadium; report to stadium by 4:10 ready to go. Hurry after school! We will go until 6pm.
4:10pm-6pm (ending times may extend past 6pm and we will alert you and let you call/text your ride to let them know.)
Wed we will make 1st cuts following the tryouts.
Friday, following session, we will make final cuts and squad decisions.
We wish everyone the best. Tryouts can be stressful for us all, so do what you can to help ensure you are at your best and help with the stress. Get a good nights sleep each evening. Stay hydrated throughout the day. Eat good meals. Talk to the coaches and other players about how you are doing, and if you have questions, please ask.
We do not look forward to the cut process, but it is a reality.
We are looking to fill 32-34 spots between both squads.
Good luck to you all and we will see you Monday morning, 9:30am main gym.
I want to remind everyone who is planning to tryout that we coaches made a unified to decision to keep squad rosters lower this year. At our first meeting, in Sept, we discussed this and stressed how important it would be to attend training sessions, be in shape, sharpen your skills, and come to tryouts as fully ready as you can. We gave out our expectations handout (which you can obtain from me). Please read and let us know if you have any questions. Working with us in the preseason is a great way to ensure you will be prepared, as we have geared all training towards preparing players for the season ahead.
I want to emphasize there are no guarantees for the season ahead. Just because you played varsity last year, does not mean it's a given for this year; everyone is evaluated from scratch at tryouts.
All but the physical are submitted electronically this year. Please make sure to have your name correct and indicate soccer as your sport.
The physical can be given to me or Andy Gordon.
All paperwork must be done as of now.
See Coach Davidson with questions or concerns.
I am in room 123 during Prime every day.
Thanks and we look forward to seeing you soon!
